LED Versus LCD

By Tony Waza

There has been an argument about what is the best gaming monitor right now. The confusion for most game player comes up when the LED monitor was released in the market and they thought this product was a different one that would perform much better compared to the traditional style LCD monitor. But most of us don't really know that an LED is just a LCD monitor that just uses a light emitting diode for its back-lighting.

This is what makes it a LED gaming monitor different from the LCD monitor. This is only one of the differences when comparing it to a traditional LCD monitor which has been using cold cathode fluorescent lamp for its back light.

Both monitors however were using a liquid crystal in their display sections. Will we say there should not be comparison of these gaming monitors?? As well as maybe the LED versus LCD comparison needs to be disregarded? My thoughts on this are "NO".

Even if these two monitors are using liquid crystals for its display panel there are still other factors to consider that might be beneficial if we choose either LED vs LCD screens. These factors include the energy or power consumption, risk of back light bleeding, life-span and longevity of usage and how they perform with the different types of games you are playing.

When it comes to energy consumption, an LED gaming monitor consumes a really minimal amount of energy in comparison to some LCD monitors. Hence, if you're dealing with limited funds and are searching for some options to take down your utility bill, selling your LCD monitors and replacing them with LED monitors will help your power bills shrink a bit!

Ghosting can also be an problem that occurs with your display panel. This only happens if you've been utilizing a monitor with a very slow refresh rate. This could ruin your experience and make you fail a mission you've been playing for several hours. Within this regard an LCD screen possesses an advantage because it features a tiny possibility of getting an undesirable refresh rate or getting back lighting bleed. If you are worried about the life duration of a gaming monitor, the LED gaming monitor last substantially longer your LCD monitors.

Lastly, we also need to match our monitor to the type of games that we will be playing. If you prefer brighter games, then a LED gaming monitor can give you a good ambiance and brightness. But, if you prefer a darker gaming experience then a LCD gaming monitor will fit your needs well.
